Over 2,500 pounds of food were collected in Gilmour Council’s 2019 drive, shattering the 2018 record of 1,478 pounds. These canned goods and other non-perishable foodstuffs were distributed to 4 food banks, at the Church of St Clare, at St Paschal Baylon, at Holy Redeemer, and at St Ignatius of Antioch. Gilmour Council enlists its own members, area merchants, and the schoolchildren. At our 3 parish schools, the class in each school that collects the most food earns a pizza lunch for its efforts. The council also collects cash and uses it to shop at Costco, or another such bulk store, where value can be maximized. Ben Capretta and Tom Nemeth pilot this effort.
